Brand new project department at Scandinavian Shipping in Gothenburg

Scandinavian Shipping has been independent from the Greencarrier Group since 2017, and we have grown significantly since then as a result of several acquisitions and mergers in Sweden. We merged with Unitrans in 2018, CR Cargo International in 2019 and, most recently, Ystad Transport & Logistics in 2022. In 2023, we have hired Sofie Fredrikson, former Customs Manager at DFDS in Gothenburg, to help increase the organic growth rate in the customs segment. In June 2023, we hired Andreas Bodin as Head of HR, in order to provide even more focus on the people, culture and values at the SSL Group. We are now making another major organic investment, by hiring three people from Deugro Sweden to start up a department for project transportation in Gothenburg.

Historically, Scandinavian Shipping has been a major operator in project cargoes, especially in Norrköping, so it is in our DNA to work in this segment. It is fantastic to once again put SSL on the project map in Sweden,” says Johan Ignell, CEO of Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics AB.

Joakim Malm, Magnus Olsson and Victor Holm have all come from Deugro and now form a completely new project department at Scandinavian Shipping in Gothenburg. The three of them have extensive experience in project cargo, including via their previous positions at DSV, Bertling and Deugro. SSL Projects AB has been active since 1 October 2023 and operates as a subsidiary of Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics AB.

We have been given a lot of freedom in building up a strong project department that will grow profitably over time. The company already has a lot of high-quality expertise from which we in the project department can benefit,” says Joakim Malm, Sales Manager at SSL Projects AB.

Scandinavian Shipping’s long-term approach is continuing at a rapid pace.

“We have an ambitious growth strategy at the SSL Group. The fact that we can set up a project department, while also making important investments in the HR and customs areas, is both exciting and stimulating because we are increasing the competence and product portfolio within the company. At the same time, we are also in the final stages of integrating the old YTL (now SSL Overland) into the SSL Group,” says Johan Ignell.
